Before In this photo the arundo (lighter green) comes all the way up to the fence. Much of it is 15 feet tall. As you can see, it forms a solid mass and crowds out all other vegetation. There is much more arundo down the bank and out of sight. This stand was originally at least 250 feet long and 20 to 35 feet wide. About half of it had been removed in earlier work sessions. During the Week of Caring in September 2005, a hard-working crew from Chevron removed another large chunk. The following photos show how it is done. |
